I love wolves, and i love reptiles. I feel the need to mention how much this creature appeals to me.
To have it as a mount would be so fantastic.
Adults are too violent to easily break. Start with an infant, and with plenty of time, patience and dedication, it will eventually be strong enough to ride. That would cause a strong bond between us, and if the worst should happen, it would actually hurt, other than a mere, time wasting inconvenience.

What kind of tasks, (if there are) would there be, in owning a mount in CoS?

Imo, there should be great effort needed to acquire and to keep a mount, near or even as much as building your equipment. I view my mount as a personal statement. What is a knight without his faithful steed? You could hire a person to take care of your horse irl, and just ride it yourself, but you would get robbed of a hugely rewarding part of owning a mount.

As long as it does not take too much time, fine.

I don't want to have to take care of yet another animal fulltime, my cat is enough :D

Pretty sure you actually start out with a mount. It's kind of necessary considering how large the world is.

That wasn't my question.

It was a response to you saying it should be difficult to acquire a mount, because currently there's no effort required into getting at least a basic mount.

Honestly, everyone should have access to effective mounts without much effort. It isn't fun to move around slowly just because you can't sink 50 hours a week into a game. I'm fine with rare, cool looking mounts being hard to get, just so long as the more common mounts can still get the job done.

You're right, i should have said "some mounts". What i had in mind wasn't a set amount of time needed for a mount, rather, the more you use it, the more you then need to do for it.

Also, having a vicious mount should feel like you're playing with fire. Instead of purchasing a giant death dragon, that just accept you as their new lord ruler, simply because you're on the saddle.
