We're going down a completely different road than the standard MMO when it comes to Crafting (and many other things). In CoS you may craft every item you own. Basically, you start out with items that we call Mundane. These items have some kind of potential value, but are as yet not magical.
You can then add things to these items to improve them the direction you want, you craft them to make them Magical. Often this is done through adventuring. You might want to dip the blade in Dragon's blood to add durability, or put it in the hands of a the snow fairy idol to add freeze damage.
Additionally, you can have the item worked on by a Blacksmith or other artisan. The work and effort in improving the item is in obtaining the element you wish to add. But once you have the item you don't have to stand around to work it into the object. Through quests you could find a particular Gem, Charm or Talisman that you wanted worked into the item. Take the item and additions to an Artisan and pick out what pattern and colors you want added to your item. There is a fee, of course, and you must present them with all the materials which you purchased or gained through adventuring.
However, you never stand in one place for some length of time pretending to beat on the metal or sew the cloth. You do the work of adventuring to obtain the items and money, and you get to choose what you create, but you never have to stand around and wait while it is made.
We hate to wait, and we won't make you do it either. There are no crafting classes, remember, CoS has no class system what-so-ever. All players can become anything they want to become, and craft any item to what they will. They can make any item into a new and unique item, rather than have to follow a recipe. As long as you obtain the correct Mundane object first, improve it the way you choose, you can construct and use or sell thousands of uniquely crafted items.
As a Crafter in other games, I want to achieve fame from the work I put into making an item, do I get that in CoS?
Yes, you can gain fame as a Crafter of magical items. When you put in the work of making a magical item you could be spending a LOT of time creating that unique magical object. The quality and power of that item is based on the hard work you did in adventuring. Once you improve the item to certain levels of quality and power you have the opportunity to name the item and your character name is attached as the creator.
Are the crafting recipes?
There is no need for recipes in Citadel of Sorcery. We feel that they limit what you can create as a 'Crafter'. Instead, you are given a potential in an item and it is up to you to decide how to use that potential. This means you have the opportunity to craft something different and special, and put your name on that unique item.
Can I become a Crafter class?
Absolutely not. Citadel of Sorcery has no classes of any sort. Like the items you craft, your character is also crafted into what you desire. Creating 'classes' in a game narrows your choices and individuality severely. Imagine in real life that when you were born you had to pick something right then, and that's all you could ever learn or become. In CoS, what you become is similar to real life, you can learn whatever you want and what you become is a sum of what you learned, and each person is an individual with a different set of skills.
